Sunsetting BookAuthority User Accounts

Learn about BookAuthority's decision to sunset user accounts, public profiles, and reading lists.

Account Changes

What changes were made to BookAuthority in July 2025?

In July 2025, we simplified BookAuthority by sunsetting user accounts, including login via Facebook, public user profiles, reading lists ("Want to Read," "Currently Reading," and "Have Read"), and online personalized book recommendations.

Why are user accounts and personalized recommendations being sunset?

Fewer than 1% of users actively engaged with these features. To improve our service and enhance user experience, we've shifted our focus entirely to recommendations provided by recognized thought leaders and industry experts.

Can I still log in or create an account?

No, the login and account creation functionalities have been sunset and are no longer available.

Your Data

What happened to my reading lists and user profile?

All previously created user-generated content, including profiles and reading lists, has been securely archived and removed from public view.

How do I retrieve my archived data and reading lists?

To request a download of your archived data, including your reading list, please contact us via email. Make sure to use the email address associated with your BookAuthority account - this is typically the email linked to your Facebook login. If you're unsure of the email used, you can check previous emails from us at digest@bookauthority.org and look at the recipient ("to") address.

Future Plans

Will user profiles and reading lists return?

Currently, there are no plans to reinstate user profiles or reading lists. BookAuthority will continue to concentrate solely on book recommendations from thought leaders.
