We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, enforce our legal agreements and policies (including our Terms of Service), and for the continued operation and improvement of our Service, including our AI models where applicable.

We retain Usage Data only while it serves a legitimate purpose—for example, improving product performance, protecting the Service against abuse, or meeting legal requirements. Retention length varies by data type and operational need.

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

  1. Your Data Protection Rights under the California Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy.

According to CalOPPA we agree to the following:

  1. users can visit our site anonymously;
  2. our Privacy Policy link includes the word “Privacy”, and can easily be found on the page specified above on the home page of our website;
  3. users will be notified of any privacy policy changes on our Privacy Policy Page;

If you are a California resident, you are entitled to learn what data we collect about you, ask to delete your data and not to sell (share) it. To exercise your data protection rights, you can make certain requests and ask us:

If you make this request, we will delete the personal information we hold about you as of the date of your request from our records and direct any service providers to do the same. In some cases, deletion may be accomplished through de-identification of the information. If you choose to delete your personal information, you may not be able to use certain functions that require your personal information to operate. 
  1. To stop selling your personal information. We don't sell or rent your personal information to any third parties for any purpose. You are the only owner of your Personal Data and can request disclosure or deletion at any time.

Please note, if you ask us to delete or stop selling your data, it may impact your experience with us, and you may not be able to participate in certain programs or membership services that require the usage of your personal information to function. But under no circumstances will we discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

We engage third-party companies, services, and software (“Service Providers”) to operate, maintain, and enhance this Service. They process Personal Data on our behalf and under our instructions:

  5. Email & communication platforms (e.g., Brevo, SendGrid): Send transactional messages, informational, functional, and marketing emails.
  6. AI Platforms and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic): Analyzing content, identifying book recommendations, building profiles for authors and though leaders, generating content, writing content, and enhancing our AI-powered features.
  7. Error monitoring & logging (e.g., Sentry): Capture stack traces, request identifiers, and user metadata when the Service encounters an error.
  8. Customer-support tools (e.g., Gmail): Store your email address, name, and the content of support conversations.
  9. Data APIs (e.g. Bright Data, X API): For gathering public information about books, authors, and thought leaders through web search, APIs, automation, and AI.
  1. Public Profiles and Thought Leader Data

We create profiles for public figures, thought leaders, experts, and authors (“Public Figures”) to showcase their book recommendations and expertise. These profiles help users discover highly recommended books from credible sources and trusted authorities in various fields.

These profiles are based on publicly available information collected through:

  1. Public websites, articles, blog posts, and published interviews
  2. Social media posts, videos, and podcast content
  3. Books, books description, book reviews, editorial reviews, and other book information
  4. APIs and automated data collection from public sources
  5. AI-powered research, content analysis, and recommendation extraction
  6. Manual research and editorial curation by our team

The information we collect and display includes:

  1. Professional background, expertise, and biographical information
  2. Public book recommendations with quotes and context
  3. Published opinions and insights about certain books
  4. Professional accomplishments and credentials relevant to their expertise

This information is processed based on our legitimate business interests for the purpose of providing high-quality book recommendation services and operates in the public interest by helping readers discover valuable educational content. All information displayed is already publicly available and has been shared by the individuals in public forums.

We may use third-party Service Providers to show advertisements to you to help support and maintain our Service.
