'The warnings are coming thick and fast now and Lymbery's are clear, concise and truly frightening ... But we have solutions that we must implement now' Chris Packham 'Philip Lymbery pulls no punches in cataloguing the calamitous mistakes we've made in our food system, but he has bold and inspiring solutions to offer, too' Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall Sixty Harvests Left not only reveals how industrial farming is ruining our soils but shows how we can adapt to restore the planet for a nature-friendly future. Taking its title from a chilling warning made by the United Nations that the world's soils could be lost within a lifetime, Sixty Harvests Left uncovers how the food industry is threatening the planet. Put simply, without soils there will be no food: game over. And time is running out. From the United Kingdom to Italy, from Brazil to the Gambia to the USA, Philip Lymbery, the internationally acclaimed author of Farmageddon, goes behind the scenes of industrial farming and confronts 'Big Agriculture', where mega-farms, chemicals and animal cages are sweeping the countryside and jeopardising the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the nature that we treasure. In his investigations, however, he also finds hope in the pioneers who are battling to bring landscapes back to life, who are rethinking farming methods, rediscovering traditional techniques and developing technologies to feed an ever-expanding global population. Impassioned, balanced and persuasive, Sixty Harvests Left not only demonstrates why future harvests matter more than ever, but reveals how we can restore our planet for a nature-friendly future.

“This is a lovely book . The stories of 50 unique trees to create a history of Britain encompassing myth folklore sport literature pop culture and much more… great gift … 🙏 https://t.co/JGuyxvnDNp” (from X)
Inspired by the history of Britain, from the tree under which the first trade union was formed to the branches from which outlaws were hanged, The Great British Tree Biography details the fascinating stories associated with trees throughout the history of the British Isles. How much did you know about the Glastonbury Hawthorn? A tree on the site of Glastonbury Abbey that flowers on Christmas Day, and is believed to descend from an original thorn planted on the grounds by Joseph of Arimathea. And then there's Oswald's Tree where the dismembered body of Oswald, the Christian King of Northumbria was said to have been hung by Penda, King of Mercia, as a warning to others – and from where the town of Oswestry takes its name. There is the lime that grows stubbornly on a cricket pitch in Kent, the ash tree surrounded by 19th-century gravestones in St Pancras churchyard and the Knole Oak, immortalised on the page in Virginia Woolf’s Orlando and in the video for The Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever. From the from oak on Isle Maree in Scotland said to provide release from madness to visitors who offer coins to the tree, to the beeches in Wiltshire that inspired Tolkien, and the sycamore in London where Marc Bolan met his untimely fate, this beautifully illustrated book tells the unique history of the British Isles through its diverse collection of trees and forests. Journalist Mark Hooper also investigates the influence of British trees in folklore, art, literature, music, legend and myth, weaving a fascinating tale of Britain’s woodlands through the stories of the individual trees.

“If you want to properly understand what you can do to be part of the Carbon footprint solution ... this is a great book with some real surprises!! And turns out Bananas not bad at al!!! @MikeBernersLee https://t.co/FiKCHqbobp” (from X)

Is it more environmentally friendly to ride the bus or drive a hybrid car? In a public washroom, should you dry your hands with paper towel or use the air dryer? And how bad is it really to eat bananas shipped from South America? Climate change is upon us whether we like it or not. Managing our carbon usage has become a part of everyday life and we have no choice but to live in a carbon-careful world. The seriousness of the challenge is getting stronger, demanding that we have a proper understanding of the carbon implications of our everyday lifestyle decisions. However most of us don't have sufficient understanding of carbon emissions to be able to engage in this intelligently. Part green-lifestyle guide, part popular science, How Bad Are Bananas? is the first book to provide the information we need to make carbon-savvy purchases and informed lifestyle choices, and to build carbon considerations into our everyday thinking. It also helps put our decisions into perspective with entries for the big things (the World Cup, volcanic eruptions, and the Iraq war) as well as the small (email, ironing a shirt, a glass of beer). And it covers the range from birth (the carbon footprint of having a child) to death (the carbon impact of cremation). Packed full of surprises-a plastic bag has the smallest footprint of any item listed, while a block of cheese is bad news-the book continuously informs, delights, and engages the reader. Highly accessible and entertaining, solidly researched and referenced, packed full of easily digestible figures, catchy statistics, and informative charts and graphs, How Bad Are Bananas? is doesn't tell people what to do, but it will raise awareness, encourage discussion, and help people to make up their own minds based on their own priorities.

The Yorkshire Post's talented illustrator Graeme Bandeira has whipped up quite a following with his expertly drawn insightful satire. Inside this book you will find 100 cartoons packed with an eclectic mix of humour, vibrancy and sublety. Immerse yourself and enjoy the wonderful characters that this book has to offer! Some cartoons have received glowing tributes from the people themselves, including Yorkshire and England cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott who has kindly written the foreword and has the original cartoon hanging in his kitchen, Henry Blofeld and Ryan Sidebottom, both have original Bandeira artworks in their homes. While Prime Minister, Theresa May, who features quite prominently in this book has signed copies of her own cartoons following a meeting with Graeme. Other cartoons produced for The Yorkshire Post and on a freelance basis have received ringing endorsements and more meet and greet opportunities, namely Ricky Tomlinson, Bryan Robson, Boris Johnson, George Osborne and the former Prime Minister David Cameron. Graeme said "It's wonderful to meet such diverse personalities, and in some cases heroes, and challenge them on their thoughts. Reaction has always been positive and that fills me with great pride. The highlight for me was when Prime Minister Theresa May signed a couple of cartoons but refused to sign the one of her with Donald Trump's arms wrapped around her, saying `my husband would not approve' whilst looking aghast."
