I searched nearly two years for a natural cure for Type 2 Diabetes, because I was literally on my way to dying. After getting diagnosed, my primary care physician prescribed multiple diabetes drugs, insulin, and a Keto-type diet, which has a significant meat base. He pronounced diabetes to be a progressive disease “worse than cancer,” reinforcing his point because “there is no cure for diabetes.” Although I tried to follow the diet and the exercise regimen, I ultimately was unable to take any of the medications, so my doctor fired me for being “non-compliant.” I was beyond desperate until I discovered the power of the whole food, plant-based diet. After adopting this lifestyle, I not only reversed my diabetes and hypertension, I also lost 70 pounds. The health benefits of plant-based eating are proven by research-backed data by many physicians, notably Dr. Neal Barnard, Founder and President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and Adjunct Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine. This diet can prevent, treat, and even reverse numerous conditions and diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure, which impacts the heart among other organs. The plant-based lifestyle can help win the global war on these killer diseases, but it also can provide the feeling of healthiness you might be aware you’re missing. In this book, I share my personal success story of how I adapted to the plant-based diet and the discoveries and recipes I created along the way. I tell you how you can adopt it to get your best health, and I also provide a plethora of information specifically directed to physicians to encourage them to learn about the power of the whole food, plant-based diet. Nutrition historically has not been taught in medical schools when it obviously is critical to your health and well-being. It is true that you are what you eat.
