There has been some awesome resources diving into this - including Ian Jeffreys' excellent Gamespeed Book and much of @Fergus_Connolly's great work https://t.co/S6ga6L2Rpk (from X)

The gamespeed system provides a progressive structure via which movements are developed, honed, and then assembled into quality-movement patterns that transfer directly to enhanced sports performance. These developments are based on the latest research from the domains of neurology and skill acquisition, ensuring that the optimal conditions for skill enhancement are provided. Throughout this book, the objective, at all times, is to make the athlete a better on-field player, and not simply help him to perform drills and tests more effectively. To this end, the gamespeed system addresses key aspects of performance not covered within the majority of speed and agility systems such as perception and cognitive processing, ensuring that the athlete is optimally prepared to perform in their sport. In short, Gamespeed provides athletes and coaches with a system that maximizes performance in all sports, and is the future of movement training. It will not only provide athletes with increased speed and agility, but, more importantly, with the ability to use these tools effectively in each and every game. Chapter 1: What Is Gamespeed? Key Constraints to Performance Chapter 2: The Nature of Gamespeed: Classifying Sports Movement Chapter 3: Assessing the Movement Needs of Sports: The Target Context Chapter 4: The Mechanical Basis of Effective Movement Chapter 5: Movement as a Skill Chapter 6: The Target-Movement Syllabus Chapter 7: The Gamespeed System Chapter 8: Constructing Effective Gamespeed Sessions

I thought Hsieh’s biography/business book (Delivering Happiness) was excellent — he lived a really interesting life, and ran his businesses in really interesting ways. No doubt has inspired many 🙏 https://t.co/4VhNhbVjff (from X)

The visionary CEO of Zappos explains how an emphasis on corporate culture can lead to unprecedented success. Pay new employees $2000 to quit. Make customer service the entire company, not just a department. Focus on company culture as the #1 priority. Apply research from the science of happiness to running a business. Help employees grow both personally and professionally. Seek to change the world. Oh, and make money too. Sound crazy? It's all standard operating procedure at Zappos.com, the online retailer that's doing over $1 billion in gross merchandise sales every year. In 1999, Tony Hsieh (pronounced Shay) sold LinkExchange, the company he co-founded, to Microsoft for $265 million. He then joined Zappos as an adviser and investor, and eventually became CEO. In 2009, Zappos was listed as one of Fortune magazine's top 25 companies to work for, and was acquired by Amazon later that year in a deal valued at over $1.2 billion on the day of closing. In his first book, Tony shares the different business lessons he learned in life, from a lemonade stand and pizza business through LinkExchange, Zappos, and more. Ultimately, he shows how using happiness as a framework can produce profits, passion, and purpose both in business and in life. (edited by author)

@TheKurtHester Little know fact this side of the Atlantic: the athlete here is Dr. Steve Peters - very well-known and respected sport psychologist, and author of what I believe to be the best sport psych book for coaches & athletes - ‘The Chimp Paradox’ (from X)

Your inner Chimp can be your best friend or your worst enemy...this is the Chimp Paradox Do you sabotage your own happiness and success? Are you struggling to make sense of yourself? Do your emotions sometimes dictate your life? Dr. Steve Peters explains that we all have a being within our minds that can wreak havoc on every aspect of our lives—be it business or personal. He calls this being "the chimp," and it can work either for you or against you. The challenge comes when we try to tame the chimp, and persuade it to do our bidding. The Chimp Paradox contains an incredibly powerful mind management model that can help you be happier and healthier, increase your confidence, and become a more successful person. This book will help you to: —Recognize how your mind is working —Understand and manage your emotions and thoughts —Manage yourself and become the person you would like to be Dr. Peters explains the struggle that takes place within your mind and then shows you how to apply this understanding. Once you're armed with this new knowledge, you will be able to utilize your chimp for good, rather than letting your chimp run rampant with its own agenda.
